[Cartoon – Shiranee is calling for help from Kala, a fellow teacher hardly qualified to be vice principal to help her deal with her dead-drunk husband addicted to raw arrack and Urumpirai kassippu. An excuse to indulge could even be to take this stuff to get rid of common cold!]
There are young girls resident in the campus apart from dayscolars and this is no place for the drunk even if he be the principal’s husband. There are occasions when his buddies gather to have a “Drink Session” in the principal’s quarters which is inside the campus itself.
(November, 21, Sydney, Australia – Sri Lanka Guardian) The major drawback for the principal of Uduvil Girls College Shiranee Mills is not her association with the rebel cabal of the Rev Dr (Netherlands-Forged Bogus) Selvadurai Jeyanesan riding high and intoxicated on free-flowing American dollars but to have a husband who is an alcoholic. No former principals of the great Uduvil Girls College have had this problem affecting the school’s highly venerated campus.

In the first place, Shiranee Mills’ appointment as principal was unforrtunate. It was improperly done; neither the Uduvil School Board nor the former principal who had a great standing in the community were consulted. One fine morning, her appointment appeared in a newspaper taking everybody by shock. Among many of her demands, one was that that she did not want to serve as a vice principal prior to being considered for principalship.
In recent weeks, the campus has been used for uncouth demonstrations by Jeyanesan’s priests and supporters against the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India including some of the guys who have defrauded the diocese of francs from Switzerland, marks from Germany and dollars from the US. One of them, a former manager of a neighbouring girls’ home was found to have made regular nocturnal visits to this centre and a former bishop had to relieve him of his duties.
In the interests of the community and the children and parents of this great school, there is no option for Mrs Shiranee Mills but to vacate her position. If she thinks that her American friends will help her by holding the JDCSI to ransom, then she must be absolutely foolish.
Uduvil is the school that was led by such great persons as Lucy Bookwalter, Ariam Paramasamy, Saras Somasunderam and Chelvi Selliah.
